At Baker Architects, we believe that every detail in a sacred space should speak to the mystery it holds. That’s why, during our Franciscan University install, we embedded a hand-carved marble Nativity scene directly into the face of the altar — making the theology of the Incarnation visible at the very heart of the liturgy.

This wasn’t just a design flourish. It was a statement: that the altar, where heaven meets earth in the Eucharist, is deeply connected to the moment Christ entered the world in the flesh. The Nativity scene, sculpted in luminous marble, serves as a daily reminder of the humility, beauty, and reality of the Incarnation.

And yes — we installed it ourselves.

From the design concept and 3D modeling to fabrication and final placement, our team carried out every phase of this project. We don’t hand off our ideas to someone else — we bring them to life with our own hands. That’s what makes us different from many architecture firms. We treat sacred furnishings as architectural expressions of theology, and we stay with them all the way to installation.
